From our Perth base we deliver trim & finish carpentry perth across Perth, Scone, Bridge of Earn, Methven, Stanley, Luncarty, Bankfoot, Auchterarder, Crieff and Blairgowrie — plus the wider Perth & Kinross area. Typical travel time from our Talisker Place office is under 30 minutes, so site visits and snagging are quick to arrange.
Marshall & Co provides trim and finish carpentry across Perth, Dundee and the wider Perthshire region. Finish carpentry is the difference between a renovation that looks DIY and one that looks professionally finished — clean mitre joints, level skirting runs, precisely scribed architraves and tight cornice corners.
We handle every interior timber trim element: skirting boards, architraves, door casings, picture rails, dado rails, cornicing, panelling and bespoke joinery details. All work is carried out by our own time-served joiners — not subcontracted — using premium MDF, softwood or hardwood depending on the specification.
Whether you're finishing a new extension, refreshing the interior of an existing property or fitting bespoke wall panelling as a feature, we deliver trim work to a standard you can run your hand along without catching a single ridge.

What's Included
Painted MDF, primed softwood and solid hardwood skirting in any profile — from classic ogee to contemporary square-edge.
Matched architraves and door casings — bullnose, ogee, torus, Victorian and contemporary profiles.
Period-appropriate picture rails and dado rails for traditional properties and feature walls.
Plaster and lightweight cornicing in classic, Victorian and contemporary profiles, mitred and finished to perfection.
Bespoke wall panelling — Shaker, V-groove, full-height, half-height and feature walls in painted MDF or oak.
Internal door hanging and ironmongery installation with proper clearances and silent close.
Trim carpentry is one of the easiest trades to spot when it's done badly and one of the hardest to fault when it's done well. The tells are mitre joints that show light through, skirting runs that wave above an uneven floor, architraves with visible filler at the corners, and cornices with chunky transitions where they meet doors and windows.
Done properly, trim work uses scribed joints rather than mitres on internal corners (because mitres open up over time as timber moves), packs skirting off uneven floors with shims hidden behind, cuts architraves at compound angles where ceilings aren't square, and matches profiles exactly where new work meets existing.
We use moisture-resistant MDF for painted trim (more stable than softwood, takes paint better), solid timber for stained or natural finishes, and proper PVA glue plus pin-nails (not gripfill) for all joints.
Trim work is usually priced per linear metre or as part of a wider renovation. As a guide for supply and fit including paint-ready prep: standard painted MDF skirting (140mm ogee) costs £18–£28 per linear metre; matching architraves cost £14–£22 per linear metre; cornicing costs £24–£40 per linear metre depending on profile.
Wall panelling is priced per square metre — typically £85–£160/m² for painted MDF Shaker panelling, £140–£260/m² for full-height feature panelling with bespoke details.
All quotes are fixed-price after a site visit. There are no hidden extras for material wastage, filler, caulk or final sanding.
